General FAQ’s
What is The BODY HAPPY ORGANISATION™?
a charity? A company? A campaign? How are you set up and how do you run?
We are a Community Interest Company and certified social enterprise and, as such belong to the “Voluntary, Charity and Social Enterprise (VCSE)” - or third - sector. We have an asset lock and are a non-profit organisation regulated by the CIC Regulator to make sure profits are reinvested back into the community we serve: children and young people. Because we are a Community Interest Company this means we don’t have large dividends or big bonuses. It also means that we can raise revenue through trading, but can also apply for some portions of funding and public sector VCSE contracts.
I want to be part of the Body Happy Org - do you have any opportunities or vacancies?
We don’t currently have any vacancies, but it’s always great to drop us an email and say hello in case that changes in the future. Get in touch and introduce yourself, letting us know a bit more about your background, passions and skills at hello@bodyhappyorg.com
What books can I buy to help promote positive body image at home / school?
Check out the Body Happy Bookshop for a range of books we endorse, buy them directly from us and get a free downloadable activity pack to go with your order.
What books can I read to find out more on this subject for myself?
Our founder, Molly Forbes, has written two books on this subject. For grown-ups - Body Happy Kids, and for readers age 9 - Every Body. Buy them both in our bookshop. For other reading list recommendations as part of professional development or further learning, we recommend signing up to a CPD workshop or our Online Masterclass or a webinar for parents.
I’m on a low income - do you offer any free resources?
We work hard to make our social media channels a resource in their own right, so you can use the posts as a tool to discover more about the subject of body image and children. We also have a blog where you can read more in-depth articles and be signposted to further reading and resources. Plus, we have a newsletter which we regularly use to share resources - you can sign up to our mailing list here. We also have some free downloadable resources here and if you’re a teacher you’ll find some free teaching resources in our Teaching Hub too.
How can I spread the work about your work?
As a small social enterprise with very limited resources, we aren’t able to invest in big ad campaigns or wield big marketing budgets. For this reason, word of mouth is incredibly important and we’re very grateful to those who spread the word of our work. If you’d like to let your school, youth club or sports club know about how we can support them to help the children and young people in their care be friends with their bodies, head to this page for a downloadable template letters, leaflets and information packs.
Can I make a donation?
If you’d like to support our work and contribute to our impact, we would be very grateful for a donation. You can make a donation directly on our website here. We are also always seeking meaningful corporate partnerships to accelerate our impact. If you work for a company which practises corporate philanthropy head to our donations page to find out how you can partner with us to support what we do.
